A ‘’Homecoming’’ benefit is planned this spring for Danville’s Fischer Theater. The ‘Danville/Vermilion County Stars & Famous Sons Tribute and Concert’ will be held May 16th at the David S. Palmer Arena.
The event is designed to benefit the restoration of the Fischer Grand Opera House Theatre, according to Steve Rodman. His group, ’’Rodman Rail’’, will be headlining the musical entertainment. Rodman Rail is known for its classic Dan Fogelberg and John Denver renditions. Rodman says a special guest will be Robert McEntee, Dan Fogelberg’s long-time friend and lead guitarist.
Joining the lineup will be a popular Danville Barber Shop quartet (a music venue enjoyed by Danville native Dick Van Dyke), the Danville Light Opera with a humorous tribute skit, and some members of the string section of the Danville Symphony Orchestra.
Other performers will include Jared Yates, who was on American Idol…Christian Cunningham, a local resident who was a Today Show National Talent winner, and renowned speed painter John Jansky, plus several surprise appearances according to Rodman.
Rodman and co-coordinator Jim Wood have invited a long list of celebrities and famous sons and daughters to the event. They say a short video update will also be presented regarding plans and recent progress on updating the Fischer.
